You can love a barn and still want hot pink at your wedding. The building doesn’t get a vote on your favorite color.
At Stone Ridge Estates in Pasco, Washington, the wood beams and chandeliers are part of the setting. What you put underneath them can take the room in very different directions. Black linens and red flowers give it a dramatic look. Soft blue makes a different impression. Bright napkins can bring color to the tables without changing every other detail.
Start with something you would actually choose
Before you search for a “barn wedding palette,” think about the colors you already like. Is there a dress, a bouquet or a piece of art you keep coming back to? Bring that reference into your planning. You don’t need to choose burlap because the reception is in a barn, and you don’t need to give up neutrals if those are what you love.

Pick one place where you want the color to do the most work. It might be the linens, the flowers or the welcome sign. Then choose the other pieces alongside it. That is easier than buying each item separately and hoping everything works together when the boxes arrive.
Try one table before you order for every table
Put a napkin, plate, glass and a sample centerpiece together on the linen you’re considering. Take a photo from a seated guest’s height as well as from above. You may discover that you want more color—or that the napkin already does enough.

If you’re asking a florist or rental company to match a shade, show them a physical sample when possible. “Dusty blue” can mean several different things to several different people. Ask what is available before committing to exact quantities or a particular item.
Bring your ideas when you visit Stone Ridge. We can show you the barn itself, and you can decide how you’d like to dress it. The goal is a reception you’re excited to walk into, in colors you chose because you like them.
